A HORRIFIED couple have called on Tesco to clean up its act after a swarm of RATS were spotted crawling over children’s trolley seats.
Andy Carter and Patricia Hepburn discovered up to five of the rodents while visiting the retail giant’s store in Royston, Hertfordshire.
Patricia snapped several pictures of the rats leaping up onto the wheels and legs of the trolley before scuttling into the basket and running along seats intended for infants.
The couple said they were met with indifference when they reported the unhygienic sight to staff – but Tesco said a pest control team carried out a deep clean of the site that same day.
Andy, 55, from Guilden Morden, Cambridgeshire, said: “There used to be a recycling area there but now it’s just turned filthy.
“People dump stuff there and I know there are rats everywhere, but Tesco needs to clean up its act. People put their babies in those trolleys.”
